Biography

​

Ciara O’Keeffe is an award-winning ceramic artist based in her workshop in Athy, Co. Kildare. With a passion for transforming clay into exquisite works of art, Ciara’s creations include handmade bowls, wall art, and unique ceramic pieces that blend functionality with beauty.

A graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design, Ciara earned her degree in Ceramic Design in 1999. Her talent and dedication have been widely recognized, with her work featured in numerous publications and exhibitions. Notably, Ciara showcased at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London in 2013, and she proudly represented Ireland at the Straight Out of Ireland exhibition in Pennsylvania in 2023.

Ciara has received accolades such as the European Arts and Crafts Award in both 2017 and 2018, further solidifying her reputation as a leading ceramic artist. Her works are held in esteemed collections, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin City Council, the Chilean Ambassador, and even former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

Through her artistry, Ciara strives to bring timeless elegance and a touch of Ireland’s creative spirit into every piece she creates.

Education

2020

Trinity College Dublin

Ciara completed a postgraduate certificate in creative and cultural entreprenuership.

The arts values critical, creative, and lateral thinking - skills which are central to innovation and entrepreneurship. Ciara learned how to make  creative and cultural contributions to society economically viable and sustainable, using them daily in her practise.

1995-1999

Limerick school of art and design

Ciara receieved a degree in ceramic design in 1999. Specialising in handbuilding and creating sculptures, functional and non functional with a decorative narrative to tell.
